Austrian
Kashmir Social Project.:
Arshad Nabi Shonthoo was a very honest, energetic
and dedicated young man coming from a noble “Shonthoo”
family of Kashmir. He established his business
in Austria and developed contacts with people
of Austria who became his friends. In the year
2002 he came to Kashmir to visit his parents and
family. Here he learnt about J&K Yateem Trust.
He contacted Mr. Z.A.Tak, the Patron of the Trust
and obtained all the information about the activities
of the Trust. He visited the orphanages, offices
and craft centers of the Trust. He was impressed
to see the credible work performed by the Trust.
On his return to Austria he motivated his friends
to work for the J&K Yateem Trust. These friends
and others Dr. Johanna Preinstorfer, Arnold Brunner,
Mag. Douglas O’Donell, Karlheinz Eder, Michael
Frauscher, Dagmar Pesendorfer readily agreed and
for this purpose established Austria Kashmir Social
Project which is a registered Trust there. The
AKSP majorly financed the Banat Complex (orphanage
and school). It also raised funds for sponsorship
a good number of orphanages in their homes. Unfortunately
Arshad Shonthoo lost his life in a tragic electric
shock leaving behind his young widow Mrs Azra
Shonthoo two minor children who are all now carrying
forward the mission of Arshad Shonthoo. We pay
homage to Late Arshad Shonthoo and also extend
warmest thanks to Austria Kashmir Social Project
and its generous members for having fulfilled
our dream project Banat Complex and sponsorship
of girls. We hope they will continue to help us
in future in the interest of humanity.
Muslim Aid, Muslim Charity, Action Aid and Save
the Children are some other NGO’s which helps
the Trust.
Medical relief to indigent
families/deserving ailing persons
The Trust has
arranged treatment of sick persons under "Save
my Life" program. 369 cases were identified
and medicines and medicament were provided to
such patients on monthly basis round the year.
Those deserving patients who require advanced
treatment like implantation of pacemaker, heart
valve replacement and surgeries of sophisticated
nature have been provided with financial assistance
upto a maximum of rupees five thousand for each
case.
Distribution of sewing
machines
All those trainees
of our craft centers who successfully complete
Basic Course in Cutting & Tailoring craft
shall be given sewing machines to enable them
to earn their livelihood at their homes. During
the year 2002-03 so many young orphan girls were
given sewing machines for the establishment of
their units. We are hopeful that our gracious
donors, business and affluent class shall extend
their full support and co-operation to enable
us to achieve our goals and noble plans in totality.
We want to assure our donors and well-wishers
that to achieve our declared targets during the
years to come they shall find us, God willing,
more dedicated, more honest and more transparent
because we are firm believers of the saying that
"Hands that serve are holier than the lips
that pray". |
